Star Reading is now integrated with Lalilo for foundational literacy
Educators who have Star Reading are now able to place their students directly into Lalilo’s curriculum. Prior to the integration, students would need to take a second placement test in Lalilo to identify where they should begin their learning journey. Now, Star scores are automatically provided to help guide teachers with placement, ensuring that each student is beginning at the just-right lesson.
Additionally, students no longer have the stress of taking an extra test, and they can start working directly on lessons. Teachers also have confidence there is consistency between the assessment’s conclusions and their students’ practice. This placement is similar to the placement from Star Early Literacy to Lalilo—a seamless connection from assessment to practice.
This integration is visible to teachers in the teacher dashboard. The former “Placement test report” is now called the “Progress report,” and teachers can easily see each student, where they were placed, and how they are performing, as shown below. (If you have students who are struggling, a recent study shows that struggling students who used Lalilo with fidelity gained the equivalent of 6 weeks of additional instruction!)
If a student’s Star score is higher than 900, we recommend using Freckle for ELA, as this score demonstrates they’ve mastered foundational literacy skills. Along with Lalilo, Freckle for ELA is part of Renaissance’s Individualized Skills Practice. Freckle for ELA is the perfect continuation for students who are mastering their skills of independent reading and comprehension. Just as importantly, Star Reading places students into Freckle for ELA the same way it does with Lalilo.
