Star CBM includes two new RAN measures for grades K–3
Along with measures of reading achievement, Star CBM Reading includes assessment of Rapid Automatic Naming (RAN), which many states and professionals require as part of universal screening for characteristics of dyslexia for all students in kindergarten through grade 3.
We are excited to announce two new RAN measures for the 2022–2023 school year:
- Rapid Letter Naming
- Rapid Number Naming
These new measures, along with the pre-existing RAN measures for Rapid Color Naming and Rapid Picture Naming, assess students’ ability to quickly name aloud a series of familiar items or known content. You can use these new measures as additional tools to screen students for characteristics of dyslexia.
Immediately after testing, results are presented in two norm-based benchmark categories—At/Above Benchmark and At Risk—for simple reporting.
Please note: While RAN measures are available in the newly released Star CBM Lectura, benchmarks are not currently offered.
