Introducing Number Line items in DnA
Renaissance continues to make significant advancements in DnA, emphasizing the inclusion of a wide range of technology-enhanced item (TEI) types in the Item Bank. DnA provides 19 different TEI types, offering educators effective tools to enrich their students’ learning experiences. Utilizing TEIs promotes student engagement and critical thinking, and TEIs help educators gain clearer insight into a student’s level of understanding of specific topics.
We’re excited to announce the newest item type available for authoring, Number Line.
With the introduction of Number Line authoring, students can answer prompts by plotting one or more elements on a number line. The item author has control over the tools available and the configuration of the number line. Number Line items are also scored automatically. This feature is ideal for having students plot the solution to an inequality or equation, assess their conceptual understanding of fractions, or answer questions related to the number line itself.

In addition to Number Line authoring, here are other enhancements you’ll see in DnA:
- Two new filters: Recently Created and Draft are now available to refine user-authored item searches.
- Improvements to the browse page to display the latest passage revision, preventing duplicate passages from appearing in results.
- Educators can now align items to No Standard during creation.
- Portuguese is now supported as a tag in item creation and as a language filter for browsing items.
- Additional item information is now available in the Teacher booklet PDF (Item/Revision ID, Standard, Tags, Banks, DOK (Depth of Knowledge) Level, Revised Bloom Taxonomy Level, Difficulty Level, Question Group).
