Improved usability for students and an additional scoring method in SchoolCity
We are excited to introduce several new item enhancements in SchoolCity that improve usability for students, in addition to a new technology enhanced item (TEI) type that provides more precise graphing.
Here are the new item enhancements that are live now in SchoolCity, in addition to the ones released earlier this year:
- Graphing Solution Set (GSS) Item Type: The GSS item was designed to test a student’s understanding of linear inequalities. Students will be able to plot one or two solid or dashed lines and choose the correct region that represents the solution set for the linear inequalities.
- Equation Editor Tokens within the Graphic Gap Match (GGM) Item Type: In the GGM item type’s tokens, the images and text the user drags to mark the correct placement have been updated to now support equations.
- Addition of “Relative Scoring” method in Charting Item Type: Users can assign point values based on how many total correct answers are selected by the student, without needing to identify specific points for each individual possible correct answer for the Charting item type.
Drawing Tool enhancement: The drawing response option for Constructed Response and Writing Prompt type items has been redesigned to improve overall usability for students, allowing them to draw while being able to view context from the passages and/or item as they enter a response. These changes can also be previewed in the assessment Online Preview.
Changes to the drawing tool include:
- Ability to draw directly from the test screen without opening to a full screen window
- Increased canvas size
- Simplified toolset
- Option to open the drawing tool in a moveable, resizable window within the test screen and return it to its original position
Other SchoolCity item enhancements include:
- Updates to Personalized Review Assignments for Assessments without Standards
- Updated Weighting for Linked Assessments
- Select Year Before Bulk Downloading Student History Report
Coming later this year
Later in 2024, we’ll announce more enhancements, including a new Fraction Model Item Type, allowing users to view rostered student results in PRAs, and partial credit rescoring of Multiple Response items.
