Now, assigning targeted practice following a quick diagnosis of students’ phonics skills is just a click away. The new integration empowers teachers to effortlessly assign personalized phonics practice lessons in Lalilo directly from Star Phonics.
How this process works
Matching students with engaging lessons in Lalilo involves a few simple steps:
- Diagnostic precision: Star Phonics pinpoints your students’ phonics strengths and areas that need additional support.
- Streamlined workflow: After administering a Star Phonics diagnostic assessment, a list of available supporting lessons in Lalilo is automatically generated. Recommended lessons are labeled, but educators have the flexibility to adjust recommendations according to their preferences.
- Save time with effortless assignment: Before the integration, two hours were required, on average, to assign Lalilo lessons for a class of 30 students following a Star Phonics diagnostic. Now, with one simple click, teachers can quickly assign up to five targeted lessons directly in Lalilo, allowing students to practice the phonics skills identified as areas where they need extra attention.
- Engaging and adaptive practice: Lalilo—designed to support all core curricula—provides an engaging and adaptive experience for students to build their foundational literacy skills, making learning both effective and enjoyable.
How to access this new feature
The new Star Phonics feature is available via the Diagnostic Instructional Recommendations report, where diagnosed phonics skills are shown, along with recommended Lalilo lessons. Teachers can simply click the lessons they want automatically assigned in Lalilo.
The example below shows how easy it is to assign lessons. Once a phonics skill is diagnosed, lessons are recommended to support a student’s understanding and growth in that specific area.
Who can use this new feature?
The assignable lessons will appear in an educator’s Star Phonics report when they have both Star Phonics and a Lalilo premium account rostered through the Renaissance Growth Platform (RGP). If educators do not have a Lalilo premium account on RGP, they will not be able to assign the lessons from Star Phonics but can continue to use the Star Phonics/Lalilo crosswalk.
